Trip Detail

Helambu is a easy to moderate trek that can be completed within a week. This trek takes you to a less travelled area of Helambunorth-east of Kathmandu. It is easily accessible by bus from Kathmandu. The advantage of the Helambutrekis that one can explore culture of the local people, their religion, mountain and glacier. People here call themselves Sherpas but their relationship with the Sherpa of Solu Khumbu is quite different. The dialects spoken by the people are also different.

People here follow the Buddhist religion so you will find many old Buddhist monasteries in the villages. Tarkeghyang is another Sherpa town along the way, which bears its own story. One can view the towering peaks of Gunjala Chuli, Dorji Lhakpa and Phurbi Chyachu of the Langtang Himalayan Range while trekking. In a nutshell, this trek is very popular for amazing views of majestic snowcapped peaks rising above the mosaic of villages, terraced farmlands and forested hills. Once you are on the trail, your guide will arrange to visit local homes, monasteries and meet people to see their way of life.
