For its remoteness and cultural uniqueness, it has been categorized by the government as controlled area. It is located up against the Tibet border and well off the main track of the popular Annapurna circuit. First occupied in the 10th Century, the stone citadels of Nar and Phu have changed little since and this area is said to have the highest concentration of Snow Leopard per square kilometer in Nepal. People of here still follow ancient custom, and translate too few amenities for visitors. Foreigners visiting Nar Phu require a special permit and must travel in a full board camping basis.
This trek also offers fantastic views of the Annapurna massif, Lamjung Himal, Machhapuchhre, Manaslu, Dhawalagiri range and Tilicho peak. As the trekking route is frequented by few trekkers, you can look ahead for a 'just the mountains, nature & us' to experience.
