Manaslu Trek
The Manaslu trek circumnavigates the world's eighth highest peak, Manaslu (8,163 m) range and is officially opened to trekkers in 1991. Though it is a strenuous and remote area trek, it is rewarded with brilliant mountain vistas of the Ganesh, Manaslu Himal and Annapurna ranges and insights into the cultures of a cross-section of ethnic Nepalese tribes and peoples, perhaps not available on any other trek.

This remarkable journey follows trail along the bank of the river Budi Gandaki through a huge and spectacular valley with stunning views of Manaslu (8163 m) and passes through middle hills and finally emerge into the high, arid desert region that is actually a part of the Tibetan Plateau where people of Tibetan origin dwell and where the predominant religion is Tibetan Buddhism and cross the famed Larkya pass to the contrasting region of Sama, before we return via the Marsyandi. The scenery becomes even more impressive as we climb up into the alpine environment on the approach to the Larkya La (5150 m), with big peaks on all sides. The peaks that we will see on this first part of trek are Himal Chuli, Manaslu, Cheo Himal and Himlung Himal. Beyond the Larkya La, we descend into the heavily forested valley of the Marsyangdi River, where we trek beneath the giants of the Annapurna range, following the river down to a meeting with the road head at Syanke or Ngadi to drive back to Kathmandu.
This is a trek into restricted area where we see very few tourists while trekking and travel to the borderlands with Tibet, experience Tibetan style culture, great mountain views and extensive forests of the Manaslu region. This trek is challenging while crossing of the Larkya La Pass which requires excellent physical stamina. In fact, this is Nepal classic trekking as it used to be!
