Western Region Trekking
Trekking into this region offers the adventure seekers an opportunity to explore the remote, rugged land of elevated hidden valleys, alpine meadows, virgin forests, medieval villages, high mountain passes and ancient cultural diversities. The region still holds the remnants of the bygone era, and one can find sculptured temples, stone pillars and carving in the desolate Tibetan-like plateau. The geographical beauty and cultural diversity attracts foreigners to this region but they need to have a special permit for trekking into these remote and restricted areas. Besides that the region is also abundant of wildlife such as blue sheep, musk deer, snow leopards and snow bear. Trekkers enjoy the stunning mountain views of Dhaulagiri range, Kanjiroba, Gurja Himal, Mount Api and many other Himalayan peaks while trekking into this region. The beauty of Shey-Phoksundo Lake is another attraction in the region.
Compared to Nepal's other popular trekking regions, this region offers the feeling of real Nepal with its rural life style of the people and their centuries- old culture. The history and anthropology of western Nepal are complex and fascinating and very few numbers of westerners make trekking trips to this off-the-beaten track region.
