Everest Region Trekking
The Everest region of Nepal is one of the best known trekking routes in the world. This is also the home of the highest mountains in the world attracting trekkers, climbers and researchers over the years. Also, the region gives insight into the lifestyle of the Sherpa people who are considered the best mountaineers in the world. Many trekkers used to walk in from the road head at Jiri, through the lovely rolling hills of the Solu region. But, nowadays most of the trekkers prefer to fly into Lukla to start their trek. A few days of walking beyond Lukla we reach to the Sagarmatha National Park and the town of Namche Bazaar, where we take a day to acclimatize to the high altitude. From here the route branches out towards the village of Thame, the birth place of Late Tenzing Norgey who first climbed Mt. Everest with the late Edmund Hillary in 1953 and set the world’s record in the history of mountaineering. The other route takes onto the two main Khumbu routes, one goes to Gokyo Lake or another towards the Everest base camp. Beyond Namche Bazaar lies the Sherpa village called Khumjung and further on the famous monastery of Thyangboche.
