Trip Detail

Naya Kanga also known as Ganja-la Chuli is the most accessible towering peak over the South of alpine Langtang valley. The peak can be viewed from the hill above Kyangjin Gompa. Naya Kanga is a sharply rising to the west of the Ganja La (5122m) which is also a popular adventurous trekking route giving access to Helambu and the Kathmandu Valley.

Its fine ridge provides superb climbing and spectacular view of Lanshisa Ri (6370m), Penthang Ri (6836m), Pemthang Karpo Ri, or Dome Blanc (6830m), and Shishapangma (8027m) from the summit. Research has not revealed that who first climbed this peak but despite the fact many would like to credit Tilman.

The normal route of Naya Kanga is via the North-East Ridge, an aesthetic line on snow and ice, classical alpine in character. It is certainly a beautiful mountain for climbing. The technical difficulty for climbing this peak is rated as Alpine Grade PD+.
