Makalu Sherpani Col Trek

This trek is considered as strenuous and suitable for those who are physically fit and want to do adventure in the Base of Mt. Makalu. This area offers some of the most outstanding and diverse trekking in the Himalaya. The trek begins from the trade route village of Tumlingtar and passes through Sherpa villages and cultivated fields with views of the Chamlang Range, Makalu and the Jaljale Himal in the distance. Proceeding through rhododendron forests we eventually make a crossing of the Shipton La before arriving at Makalu Base Camp (5000m) to get magnificent views of the imposing south face of Makalu, Everest, Lhotse and the Barun Glacier.

Trip Detail

This trek is considered as strenuous and suitable for those who are physically fit and want to do adventure in the Base of Mt. Makalu. This area offers some of the most outstanding and diverse trekking in the Himalaya. The trek begins from the trade route village of Tumlingtar and passes through Sherpa villages and cultivated fields with views of the Chamlang Range, Makalu and the Jaljale Himal in the distance. Proceeding through rhododendron forests we eventually make a crossing of the Shipton La before arriving at Makalu Base Camp (5000m) to get magnificent views of the imposing south face of Makalu, Everest, Lhotse and the Barun Glacier.

The trail further continues crossing some difficult high passes finally emerging into Khumbu region with another magnificent view of the high Himalayas. The itinerary is designed in such a way to acclimatize you gradually and not expect high altitude sickness. However, good physical fitness and some mountaineering skills are required for the trek.

Day 03: Trek to Mani Bhanjyang (1180m)

Day 04: Trek to Churchila (1910m)

Day 05: Trek to Num (1560m)

Day 06: Trek to Nayagaon (2140m)

Day 07: Trek to Tashi Gaon (2250m)

Day 08: Rest at Tashi Gaon.

Day 09: Trek to Kauma (3510m)
