Trip Detail

The Langtang region surprises the trekkers with the rare display of Tamang and Sherpa ethnic villages, breathtaking nature so rampantly wild but yet serene and so wonderfully stirring imagination and emotions with its rugged but resplendent beauty. The lower part of the region is abundant in pine forest, swift mountain streams, rugged rock, grassy pastures and meadows strewn with daisies and wild flowers whereas the upper part of the region are snow ridges spanning angry torrents, high passes, snowy peaks enveloped in mist, tiny lakes and glaciated mountain giants.

The Langtang – Gosaikunda – Helambu trek begins with an overland journey to Syabrubesi passing through a varied landscape of evergreen forests, rugged mountains, rice terraces and rushing streams finally leading us to upper Langtang valley. The upper valley offers grandeur views of high mountains and varied and spectacular landscape continuing trek towards Kyangjin Gompa. This tiny town is named after a Gompa (monastery) which is a very popular in this region built many centuries ago.

After Kyangjin the trek retraces the same route till Lama Hotel. Then the trek to isolated Gosainkunda area begins.  Gosaikunda is an important pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. Every August on full moon night the lake is thronged with Hindu & Buddhist pilgrims from all over Nepal to celebrate a big festival.  From Gosainkunda we head off to another culturally rich Helambu area where we experience Sherpa culture and their distinct language unlike those of Sherpa of Everest region.

The trail of this trek is full of diversity. During the trek we encounter hillsides covered with rhododendron, firs, and oaks along with great views of mountains and gushing rivers. Abundant wildlife, dense forest teaming with wild flowers and animal species add interest on this trek for nature lovers. Therefore, this is truly a journey with numerous highlights such as stunning views of Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, Annapurna massif and many more peaks along with culture of Tamang and Sherpa people of Helambu (Also called Helmule) who are physically and culturally resemble to the Tibetan and their unique lifestyle is still thriving under their traditional attitude.
