Trip Detail

Humla, sandwiched between the peaks of the Saipal Himal and the Tibetan border is often described as the "hidden Himalayas". This is the trek through Nepal's most remote and highest region which is culturally and scenically most rewarding. The trek starts from Simikot which is situated at an elevation of 2910 meters and takes you through peaceful villages, high mountain passes and clear streams along with sight of eternally snow-capped mountains and sweeping valleys.

Traditional village settings, rural lifestyle of people, local farmers working on indigenous crop fields and the Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, shrines are some of the major highlights of this trek. The area untouched by modern changes is believed to be the present form of mythical Shangri-la. Whilst trekking, you also enjoy the majestic view of the Saipal Himal (7035m) that resembles a sleeping golden ox.

The beautiful valley around the mountain enhances the beauty of the region. During June, July and August while monsoon rains are drenching most of the Nepali countryside, the Humla, which falls in the rain shadow, is considerably drier. This is a trek into ‘getting off the beaten track’ to its extreme and the trip is for those who want to explore an extremely remote and stunning landscape and meet distant communities. Physical fitness an absolute must for the trek.
