Kharta Valley is isolated region along with Mt. Everest which consists of the Himalayan ranges of Everest region and the arid Tibetan plateau. The Kharta Valley trek starts from Kharta valley 140 km south-east from Shegar taking us to pristine wilderness, beautiful Alpine Lakes and beautiful mountain views. The beautiful valleys like Karma Valley, Khangseung valley and Khangseung Glacier make you feel different than other trekking in Tibet. On the way we can view Mt. Makalu , Mt. Everest, Pethangtse, Lhotse and others

We spend several days in a spectacular high-altitude meadow, exploring, relaxing and snapping  pictures

Kharta Valley Trek Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival Lhasa and acclimatization

Drive to the airport for the flight to Lhasa. This one hour trans- Himalayan flight will give you an opportunity to have an aerial view of Mt. Everest and other Himalayan Peaks. Upon arrival in Lhasa you will be transferred to the hotel. This day would be kept for your acclimatization. It is advisable to drink plenty of water and have a good sleep for next day’s program.

 

Day 02: Lhasa Sightseeing

Visit Potala Palace and Jokang Monastery, then walk on the Barkhor Street surrounding Jokhang, a big free market with its prolific stalls for selling local specialties.

 

Day 03:  Lhasa Sightseeing

Visit Drepung Monastery for the whole morning, later after lunch, visit Sera monastery.  We do the Sera Kora walk for about 1 hr and then attend the famous debate session (if the debate session is in process) of the monks before returning back to Lhasa

Day 04: Drive to Shigatse (approx 4-5 hrs)

Drive to Shigatse following the Lhasa River. Afternoon we visit the Tashilumpo Monastery. Overnight at hotel

 

Day 05: Drive to Kharta and trek begins

 Drive to Kharta where you leave the highway and your trek begins, our crew will set the first camp. The magnificent views of Lhotse, Cho Oyu and Everest are expected from the camp.

 

Day 06: Trek continues

Trek towards the mountain ranges. You will see the magnificent views of Makalu and Everest, overnight at camp.

 

Day 07: Trek to Tangmoche-4350m (4-5 hr)

 

Day 08: Trek to Sagar- approximately 4800m (4-5 hr)

 

Day 09: Trek to Pola Valley- 4500m via Doya Ri- 5300m (7-8 hr)

 

Day 10: Trek for about 3 hour and drive to Everest base camp-5150m, overnight at camp

 

Day 11: Excursion to the Rongbuk glacier

Excursion to the Rongbuk glacier for the magnificent view of Mt. Everest, return to BC for overnight at camp

 

Day 12: Drive about 150 km to the Cho Oyu base camp, overnight camp at 4900m

 

Day 13: Excursion to Cho Oyu base camp (approx. 5 hr)

 

Day 14: Trekking back to Driver Camp and drive to Zhangmu, overnight at hotel

 

Day 15: Drive to Kathmandu. (Trip ends)

After completing border formalities we drive back to Kathmandu
